WELCOME TO CHRIST CHURCH

Welcome to Christ Church Glenn Dale, “A New Parish with an Old Faith.” We are a new parish, founded on December 2, 2007, but we are rooted in an old faith, as part of the Old Catholic tradition founded by Jesus Christ almost two millennia ago.

We worship together each Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. for the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the heart of our corporate worship experience. With teaching of the Word, singing and the Holy Sacraments, we gather to support and fortify ourselves for the week ahead.

Our members come from all walks of life, different ethnic backgrounds and nationalities. We are an open and welcoming community for all of God’s people. Anyone desiring to grow and flourish in their faith and discover God’s plan for their life has a place at Christ Church, where gender, sexual orientation or religious background pose no barriers.

We are a people in the Catholic tradition and Apostolic Succession, and we are ecumenical. We believe that we have a social ministry and strive to share the Good News of the life of “Perfect Peace” that comes from faith in Jesus Christ.

Come worship, sing and learn with us and then go into the world stronger, more joyful and better able to handle the stresses of 21st century living.

From the Desk of Father Declan

Dear Friends and family,

We live in a troubled world. When you read the newspaper, there are very few encouraging headlines But, when we study the Word of God, "Good News" abounds.

God wants to be a daily part of our lives. God wants to influence our world, our family and our selves. This is done one person at at time. God wants to make a difference in life. This is the transformational message of Jesus, and of His Church.

At Christ Church Glenn Dale, we are committed to sharing this good news — any way possible and with anyone wanting to discover the secret of a more fulfilled life.

The modern church of the 21st century, must look beyond the bricks, mortar and stained glass windows to find its ministry. Like Jesus and his disciples who walked the roads of Palestine, we also must walk the roads to share the good news. Today's road is the Internet and electroic communications. It has never been easier to share the message that God's Kingdom is here and we can live full and meaningful lives as children of the King.

"Moments in Faith" is a new ministry of Christ Church Glenn Dale. Through the use of pod-casting and the Internet and with the wonder of CD's & the United States Post Office, the "Good News" of the Living Christ can easily pass from one person to the next.

Because you are my loved ones, I think the messages are what is needed for today, more than ever, to live a richer and more fulfilling life. The goal of this ministry is to find God's practical guidelines on how to live a happier and more contented life in faith. It is to broadcast simple and practical advice to help you discover the principles of abundant living.

If you listen to the messages, and they help you even a tiny bit, please pass them on to someone else. You too can be a vital part in sharing God's "Good News". You never know whose life you will touch and how you can help another gind great meaning in living.

If you want CD's, just ask. The messages are archived on the sermons page.

Yours in Christ,

A PRAYER FOR YOUR FUTURE

May you get a clean bill of health from your dentist, your cardiologist, your gastroenterologist, your urologist, your proctologist, your podiatrist, your psychiatrist, your gynecologist, your plumber and the IRS.

May your hair, your teeth, your face-lift, your abs and your stocks not fall; and may your blood pressure, your triglycerides, your cholesterol, your white blood count and your mortgage interest not rise.

May what you see in the mirror delight you, and what others see in you delight them.

May someone you love enough to forgive your faults, be blind to your blemishes, and tell the world about your virtues.

May the telemarketers wait to make their sales calls until you finish dinner, and may your check book and your budget balance, and may they include generous amounts for the church.

May you remember to say "I love you" at least once a day to your spouse, your child, your parents, your friends.

May we live as God intended, in a world at peace and the awareness of His love in every sunset, every flower's unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart.

May we all go out into the world each day and work like we don't need the money, dance like no one is watching and love like we have never been hurt before.
